Thank you very much Razvan Bibire for this historical account. My father was reported missing in action August 24th, 1944, in Onesti by the German Army. Your article is the first document that I could identify to show details of the events at that time. I have been waiting for more details for over 50 years. It apperas that the German report was mistaken as you state that Soviet troops reached Onesti only by August 26th. Do you have any more details on Onesti for August 24th to 26th, 1944?
